Lupe Fiasco – Shining Down Lyrics 16 years ago
The God/mother nature thing could definitely possible, referencing some of the disasters and other events going on in the world that things had kinda been going along statically for awhile and people had forgotten about God/mother nature and now it's back and making itself known. Or could be speaking from his father's point of view (or anyone meaningful in your life) that they're still there and watching over you.

Lupe Fiasco – Shining Down Lyrics 16 years ago
This is probably my favorite thing that Lupe does. Not only does he have real, meaningful lyrics, he doubles them up so that if you combine/separate words, or blur a couple letters it becomes a whole different line that is equally insightful. Easily the best/deepest lyricist of our time, no matter what genre.

I think he's also saying that he's above what's going on in America right now. He's not trapped in the bubble of commercialized TV, radio, and everything else. He's getting higher, and is viewing things from outside and overlooking what's going on. Kinda saying that we need to look beyond our "reality" tv to see what's really out there.

Green Day – 21 Guns Lyrics 16 years ago
The lyrics remind me of Dispatch - The General. Love this song. The chorus has such a crazy hook. Love the idea of "One, 21 guns."

Dispatch – Walk With You Lyrics 17 years ago
I just recently got into Dispatch and got my hands on as much of their music as I could. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of the first songs, but I started listening to some of their most popular music on Imeem. Thankfully this made the last spot. Beautiful beautiful song. The beginning instrumental is amazing, the guitar is simple, yet perfect, and their singing, as always, is so soothing to listen to. This could very well be a walk with God and that we live our lives ("all I've done") to be with him. "Time is nigh" could mean our earthly life is limited compared to an eternity with him. I also see it as just a deep love for anyone though. The third stanza makes me see it more as a love song ("lay your head to rest") and is beautifully written. I listen to this song on repeat for hours. It's just amazing.

Honor By August – California Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the lyrics actually are:
At our midnight rendezvous, don't be late
Make me believe there's a reprieve coming over unto me
As thoughts fill my head and my heart begins beating

And they don't sing "take all of this" anymore

Motion City Soundtrack – The Conversation Lyrics 17 years ago
I can't explain
I need to be... alone

I know the timing isn't great
But these things you just can't plan
I just need a little time so I can find myself again

This songs hits me so hard. I've been told this almost exact thing twice. Once a couple years ago and the last time was about a week ago and I just automatically started listening to this album and this song started playing and it was like...here we go again...Beautiful song. As has been said it obviously has some Ben Folds influence. I don't think there's ever been a song that's captured that conversation better.
