| Regina Spektor – Ballad of a Politician Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think that second "you're gonna make it big" is supposed to be "you're gonna make a boom". And perhaps after "shake what your mama gave you" it should be "and not let anyone laugh". I'm pretty sure, but not completely. and then "you're gonna taste ???. your gonna take ???" |

| Regina Spektor – Aching to Pupate Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Yeah I also think that it's about her being an artist. How she's aching to pupate into a musician and not just pretend to be one - like this girl is trying to be adult by putting on lipstick. Her songs are like her butterflies. Soon-to-be beautiful, waiting to pupate, but sometimes it feels like they are fake rolexes. She said in an interview that she felt crude writing songs because of all great classical musicians who have written masterpieces. And obviously there's competition in the city of New York. But as we now the butterflies became known and people want them more than books and gold and stuff nowadays :) |

| Regina Spektor – One More Time with Feeling Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| At first I was devastated she added drums to it... and yeah I'm still quite miserable. It's still good, but the acoustic version has got more FEELING!!! come on: one more time with feeling, Regina. I hope the version she does at live shows hasn't changed, 'cause I'm seeing her live next month! =D This and Human of the Year are my absolute favorites. I think she did Human of the Year more justice on the album than this one. But I still like it...but yeah. I would have wished she would have done it differently. | |
| Regina Spektor – Machine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This part: And I'm downloaded daily I am part of a composite makes me think of Making Records. I think that she could be talking about her computer as the Machine. She's "upgraded daily" and has "friends in high places". The correspondence who "just lacks my perspectives and who lacks my organics and who covets my defense" I'm thinking e-mail. Letters without feelings. Everything's provided - we're not doing anything ourselves, and because of all this we forget the worldly troubles. pre-war or post-war: we never notice. We just see our own future and our machines... OK. a bit hard to follow maybe, but I think this is a possible interpretation. |

| Regina Spektor – Laughing With Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I agree with some of you, and not with others. I think people are laughing and making jokes about God. Saying he hates us and doesn't exist. Dismissing him like he was Santa Claus. But when things in life are hard we're not laughing anymore. Then everyone go "nonono. No, we're not laughing AT you. We're laughing WITH you." You know, like everyone says even if they don't mean it. That's one of the lamest statements ever. You know, when you screw up and you know they're laughing at you and the bring on the WITH. So annoying. Just admitting it instead would be better. I don't wanna put anything else in it; like what she thinks about it. I just think that she says that "this is the way it is, and this is how people usually react". And it's true. I really like the first "ha ha". She sounds like she really doesn't want to laugh. This song reminds me of Hero and Buildings, but it's darker. |

| Regina Spektor – Chicken Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| annoying... :( but if that's what she wants, then it has to be respected. I'm sure this song isn't bad though. she made Braille when she was 19 and a bunch of other songs that are absolutely amazing... | |

| Regina Spektor – 20 Years of Snow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I wonder if the "I" in this song is the daughter talking? It could be a third person. Perhaps the mother? Her 20 years are (in that case) not all of her years, but the years that she has been married to this wounded man. I think a lot of the interpretations here are really good. I just wanted to start some thinking in another direction... | |
| Regina Spektor – Man of a Thousand Faces Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"good is better than perfect" That line has helped me so much. It's better to do something that's "only" good, instead of tearing yourself apart trying to do something perfectly. Then you'll end up crying for things you tell others to do without crying. Hiding your tears and trying to be perfects on the outside. I know this song probably is about this Man, but Regina gives advise in all of her songs. If you just dig deep enough. |
