this is what i hear when i listen: there is a girl that is absolutely perfect for the narrator but he's gone and told her that he 'sees her as a friend' or some such bullshit while he goes and sleeps with a bunch of pointless women. it ain't pretty, but those are the paces that he put himself through to have this moment of clarity where he realizes that she's all he's ever loved and she's always been there and he's sorry, please forgive me yadda yadda. she is a skyscraper...so huge, in his face and hard to miss, yet he was blind. just listen to that voice. he's really regretting what he said and did and he's really in love and is begging her forgiveness. total prince. gotta love it. |

i think we can all agree that patton's steeze is always multi-faceted. on the more kind of fetishistic, plastic, immature, and just plain silly side, we have a songs such as "squeeze me macaroni", while on a more serious note we have songs like "everything's ruined"... in my opinion, "cuckoo for caca" falls somewhere in between these two and it means all these things at once. i personally enjoy the idea of patton making fun of materialistic people by imagining them eating shit. what an image. brilliant and hilarious. |

one thing i think is being overlooked is that there are definitely some misgivings the narrator is feeling....he WANTED to believe the words that he was speaking and he knows that he is 'defacing' a thing of beauty and after the deed is done, he feels guilty and doesn't want to talk about it...and so he writes this song. through the admission of his trespass, he is acknowledging guilt. |
