| Ingrid Michaelson – December Baby Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| What I love abou this song is the fact that it tells a story with little words. The bridge filters into a messy chaos of sound, drowning in a downwards spiral. You can hear the relationship get destroyed by the music. The sudden stop is that numb feeling of knowing the past and blankly unaware of what's ahead. Almost immediately, the music starts up again, but the listener knows it's not the same as before, things are now different. At the very end, almost every instrument drops out, and she's gingerly sings, "December Baby, you are mine". This part sounds as if she is still in love with him, but is in denial that they broke up.Or she is wishing that they were still together. | |

I love this song so much lately because I am going through the same thing she is. I just broke up with my boyfriend a few weeks ago, and I have never appreciated my independence so much up until that point. This little, lovely, but not lonesome lullaby touches my heart in a personal way. I hope that there are many girls who are able to have this light shed on them, looking forward to whatever little happiness comes their way. |

Glen Phillips is so hot. Cannot lie. i.e. THIS SONG. I want a guy who can say things like Birkenstock, geek-rock dude and who is a guy like that. I can't wait until I get to feel this way when I get married. His lyrics amaze me with each listen. Can't get enough... |

The carosel theory is so cool. What's been bothering me is the soapy heels part. I think that image is crazy creative, but she's referring to a guy. Think about your ex with heels on on a soapy floor. I still love that line, but sometimes I just can't take it serioiusly. The three part round at the end reminds me of a Gregorian chant in their shared mysterious beauty and the way they both can haunt you. I've been playing this song almost non-stop for the past 72 hours, and I can't get sick of it. "The Chain" is so mesmerizing, I can't let go. |
