Listen to the Honey Honey cover of this song. For some reason, the meaning is a bit more clear to me when it's acoustic and sung by a female. It just reminds me of driving around on a cool summer night (headlights pointed at the dawn), windows rolled down, the streets are empty... "you can see there's no one else around". The poured cement refers to the road you are driving on. Every lyric can be tied to summer. Junebug skipping like a stone? As she is driving around, she is thinking of someone she saw, probably one of the cool kids that never had the time to notice her. But she can see that he is a great guy, and just wishes that they could meet. "I know you better than you fake it. You and I should meet." |

This is just an extremely positive song. No matter what happens, there are still great things to look forward to. |

To me, when it asks "are we human or are we dancer", its questioning whether we just go about life kind of laconic and boring, or we make beauty out of it all. The word dancer in this song to me is more of a metaphor. But now i'm kind of leaning more toward Icarus Fixius' interpretation, because it actually looks at the other lyrics. I've really only let myself hear the refrain, i don't know why. |
