this looks perfect except he sounds like he's saying "laid her" not later, because of the emphasis he puts on "her." later would sound weird pronounced with emphasis on both syllables |

"your sister groans, our usurper to the holy throne" makes more sense than silly serpent talk |

the "little cities" line is always hard to hear but i'm either getting "are burned" or "are ruined on the maps"
and little seedlings "we grew for violence" not "violins" as in growing our kids up to be soldiers in a revolution that never comes. the acoustic studio version they did is a little bit more decipherable and it's definitely not violins, that makes little to no sense contextually. |

| The Killers – Four Winds (Bright Eyes cover) Lyrics

"you'd better look alive" is in the bright eyes version, and it seems to be the dead warning the speaker to revel in life because there is nothing afterwards, and religion is a lie. you burn all religions, that is the truth. conor oberst is an ex-catholic, and this is why he has such a strong voice in his songs for modern atheism. thats also why its so ironic and unbecoming to hear flowers the hardcore conservative mormon destroy that notion by singing it in a techno song |

another epic song ruined by a once-promising band. they ought to stick to their own material for the sake of history. if only we could take back shadowplay and four winds and forget this ever happened, i could love the killers again. |

this song is so epic and i think the meaning is self-explanatory. he loves the country but is sad to see what it has become, a trashy materialistic joke in the world.
dave emailed me the chords for acoustic guitar. it pretty much rocks to play even if you're sitting alone in a room. although it helps to have someone playing a piano |

there are no multiple interpretations of this song. it was written by an adult about the dangers of molesting a seventeen year old. he establishes that she is younger than him, and she is 17, then he is an adult. he wants to rob the cradle, but doesnt want to get arrested. happens in every guy's life |

| The Killers – Neon Tiger Lyrics

if you have ever been to the strip in vegas or even driven around the outskirts, big neon scrolling billboards (those fancy ones with like movies playing on them) are everywhere, and a lot of them are advertising siegfried and roy's tiger magic show at The Mirage hotel & casino.
this was always one of the main attractions of the "glitzy side" of las vegas, so the band was definitely influenced by the giant tigers roaming above the streets and sidewalks all through the night, which is never dark in vegas. there is always some kind of show going on |

| The National – Mr. November Lyrics

oh yeah and the 'nothing like it was in my room' would make sense referring to obama, as he grew up all over the world with a single mother in a poor family, and when this song came out he was a favored senator and presidential hopeful, a complete change from how he grew up. he's now in his best clothes to win the election. |

i understand it as sports imagery and jock-mentality and everything, but The National ended up fully supporting Obama, allowing his campaign to use Fake Empire in their campaign videos. they printed t shirts with Obama's face and the words "Mr. November" so everything ties together with the presidency and the sports stuff at the same time |

this song is not good. it feels contrived and unfinished, or at least the chorus feels like it shouldnt be a chorus. the verse sounds very stg. the new singer can def pull off that attitude from the last chick, but the chorus needs to change |
