This song has such a personal meaning for me, and for a dear friend of mine. She became a mother at the age of 17, and is brought to tears everytime she hears this song. I interpret this song as a message from a single mother to her child. Even though she's raising her child by herself, she is able to stand strong on her own. However, her new blessing means so much to her and her son/daughter makes her life so much better; makes her stronger. To my friend, the lines... "Bless the day he came to be Angel's wings carried him to me" ... mean the most, because although at first she did not want to have the baby, when she did her life was greatly enhanced. It's a beautoful song! i really love to listen to it when I'm upset, it uts me into such a happy place. |

Not one comment?!?! haha The song is a pretty basic interpretation. She is talking about the grief and sorrow over loosing someone close to you after having a falling out with them. First verse is saying how hurtful words are said and they affect relationships and put a strain on them. Then when everything is better and poeple have made up people are still hurting because you can't let it go inside - what's done is never forgotten. Then it goes on to say "when the fires all burn down" which symbolizes when all of it is said and done and it's all over with and when they lay your body to rest, I'll go to the grave to pay my respects however I cannot take back what I have said - "It's too late for sorry now." "it's tmie for mercy" means that enough is enough. when it rains it pours and all she wants is to get through it and for it all to be over. It's hard to deal with the guilt of loosing someone while on such bad terms with them. Beautiful song. Really poignant theme. I am absolutely in love with it. HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET SOME MORE COMMENTS UP ON IT!!!!! |

| Ron Pope – A Drop In The Ocean Lyrics | 17 years ago |

What I get form this song is that the fire in a relationship has died out. It was a sudden change (like a drop in the ocean, or a change in the weather). It was unexpected that one of them would fall out of love. When he says "I was hoping that you and I could end up together" i think what he really means is that he was hoping they would be able to last through anything and in the end they would stay together. Even though theyre not together anymore, he still holds her closest to heis heart because he truely does love her. "Never counting regrets" symbolizes that he doesn't regret the relationship because he was happy at the time however he goes on to say "Don't take what you don't need from me," which means don't take advantage of me because his heart is still in it. Absolutely beautiful. The first time i heard it I felt it was so uplifiting because the part where he says "you are my heaven," I feel that is utterly sincere and sweet. He clearly would do anything for her. However if you take the time to listen to what he really is saying it's sad to know how he feels for her and what she isn't feeling for him. Ultimately, I think it's a song that demonstrates pure brillianceeeeee MAD PROPS |

I'm not sure if I completely agree with the theory that the man she loves is in another relationship. My take on this song is that she feels that this guy is no good for her. However, she has such strong feelings for him that all she wnats to do is be with him. The first verse she is basically saying that they've tried so many times to keep it held together and she wonders if it was even worth it at all because he constantly is a disappointment ot her. But after all that he puts her through she still is in love with him. She then goes on to say how she has wanted to leave him behind because all he gives her is pain and nothing that is substantial. She finally breaks up with him but all the while is regretting it because all she wants to do is be with him. She then negotiates with herself and tries to convince herself that it was the right choice. That if she had stayed with him she was bound to loose herself to the relationship and that her choice was morally right because all she has is now and if she spends it with him he will let her down once again. Danced to this song in LA with amazingggggggg choreogrpahy that brought this song to life. Lyrics are simply outstanding as is her voice. The song emits such emotion from me..i truely love it. | Tegan and Sara – Where Does the Good Go Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think this song is about a relationship going sour - and not essentially ending. It seems like he is in the relationship for shallow reasons and not because he loves her. However, she is in love with him and it hurts her to know that he does not feel the same. When she says "Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive Look me in the heart and tell me you won't go Look me in the eye and promise no love's like our love Look me in the heart and unbreak broken, " then she follows it with "it won't happen" I think this shows that she wants him to tell her how he really feels their love is special but she knows it will never happen. I think it also shows that he does find her attractive but maybe that is the only reason why he is with her. "How do you live so happily while I am sad and broken down" - I find this lyric to mean that he is fine with being where he is using her, but it hurts her to know that her love is unrequited. I'm not saying this is what the song realy does mean haha but thats the vibe I get from it. "where does the good go?" the good in their relationship has faded and all thats left behind is the shallow emotions. I've just recently started listening to Tegan and Sara however I'm already hooked. One of my favorites from them so far but I still wan't to submerge myself in more of their music. MAD PROPS |
