I liked both the thought of the song being about suicide and marriage ... But I´d say suicide. "He couldn´t take another day" for instance, and "...then turn around and walk away". Just my opinion, anyway. I really like the line "Walk me across the water, and maybe you´ll understand", I think they mean that you have to go with them "across the water" (be in their situation, maybe?) to understand why they do what they do. Why they commit suicide. And the chorus with the stone being lifted from their shoulders, sounds like someone trying to convince the suicidal ones that things will be better eventually, and that they can´t give up. |

Noone has commented any Kurt Nilsen songs? :O What a shame. Anyway, this song is really good. I think it´s from the period where he had to decide if he were going to go for music or his "ordinary" job, being an electrician... He don´t really like his job so he´s staying at home way too much with bad excuses, while trying to decide wether he´s going to quit or not. Well, that´s just my opinion, anyway =) |

I think I´ll agree with Buffy, at least a little. I think it´s a long distance relationship, because he has moved away (probably because of his music) and it´s very hard for him. "When you call, I might be here, I might be gone", he doesn´t know wether he wants to speak to her or not, because it will make him miss her even more. "But I ain't seen you look so good" he sees her again, and it gets even harder, because she looks better than ever before. "California might be warm this time of year, I should go, turn the engine and the radio", he plays with the thought of going away to meet her. "But here at the sound of the bells you cry, You've lost your mind", it´s not only him having a hard time. "It's just a dream you dreamt you had", I think he wants her to forget him, their relationship was only a dream. The rest of the lyrics speaks for themselves I guess. |

| He obviously has a serious need of partying (maybe doing drugs? "So high, I don´t wanna come down"), and this is ruining his relationship with someone (probably a girl). He really hates the relationship going wrong, but he´s too obsessed with his "revelry" to do anything about it. There´s a sad mood in these lyrics, really. Or so I think :) | |
