that's what i thought first time i heard it ... actually i always try to interpret all of their songs as ones about death and/or homicide stories ... and i love how it makes sense most of the time... but after listening to this one a couple of times i like to think it's about something deeper than someone dying ... maybe it's about our existence as humans in this universe ... i don't know, as you said, it can go pretty much anywhere. |

i love this verse: "I don’t want to follow Death and all of his friends" ... it's somehow my way of thinking these days. trying hard not to give into Routine, Boredom, Self-Pity, and the others friends of death :P also it reminds me of a poem by Pablo Neruda, titled "Dies Slowly" ... here's a bit "Dies slowly he who becomes a slave of habit, repeating same path every day. He who never changes brands. Who doesn't risk wearing a new color and doesn't speak to whom he doesn't know." oh also i find it very weird that Chris Martin refers to Death as a male entity; in Portuguese (and in all Latin languages, i think) it's a female one :) |
