it's a letter to a lost love... but there is something haunting about it... i always thought "Sunny Road" refered to the path to the afterlife as tonythelonely has suggested... however i always felt the "heaven's closed it's gates" was a slightly sarcastic line about how she has loved too many - and in a narrowminded christian view has sinned and therefore won't get into heaven.... reminds me of Wuthering Heights ... Cathy's dream that Heaven flung her out onto the moors the number/address line at the end ... could be seen to make the interpretation more 'living world' again... or a wish that he is not dead afterall and somehow/somewhere still contactable... |

Domesitka was an early title given for the album that became Vespertine... in which case one wonders the eary direction the album might have been taking with themes of songs in the domestic sphere... i think this might explain the wealth of other bsides around this album |

i didn't know it was about breast feeding.... i always used to think about Crocodiles ... and how they use their vicious mouths with sharp teeth - like a cradle -to pick up and carry their babies... i know that Bjork is very much into David Attenborough wildlife documentaries - so it wouldn't suprise me if this was an influence on the flavour of the lyrics |
