I don't care much for the Phill Colins version. But The Postal Service really did a great job with tis one. I'm not a big fan of their other covers like "Such Great Heights" and "We Will Become Sillouets", The origonals are really great if you haven't heard them. But back to this song, I think we have all felt this way after a break-up. And if you haven't yet, You will give it time. |

This is spose to go before my other one. I just messed up. =] Im going to take a crack at this, I think its about what most songs are about, girls. And it kinda reminds me of me and my ex, How I didn't feel like he payed enough attention to me, So I would flirt with other guys, Then causaly mention who I had met that weekend. And he would get mad. It kinda feels like that's what this song is about. She's trying to figure out how to get his attention, "something's got to break you down" She wanted his attention, so she flirted around "arched your backbone" Meaning she possitioned herself closer to them in a flirtatous way. He gets mad and throws a "jelous fit" finally, They break-up. And eather him or the girl(I'm thinking it's him), Realize that nothing hurts more than being alone. "Nothing hurts like nothing at all" But Yea I don't know if I am right. Just a guess. But the part I am really talking about is here.... Well he was on vacation and he met a girl there and they had a thing and he told her he loved her but he knew he didn't mean it. He told her that he loved her for sex, and she really did loved him. I think she was very innocent, because when I was inexperienced with the way guys will use you for that stuff I had something not as serous but similar happen. Anyway he's saying that the bruises he gave her, she didn't want to fade because when they do there will be nothing left of him for her. And she doesn't want that empty feeling when someone you love goes and there is nothing left there for you. I feel in love with this song in Mexico, it makes me think of someone I met there. So my first boyfriend dumped me two weeks before I left on vacation. And I was on vacation, And my mom and I got in a fight, I went storming out of the room, I had my i-pod on and I was just walking around our resort. This song came on and I stopped and sat on a bench and just started bawling even harder. I had just found out that day that my ex-boyfriend was dating someone else. But whenever I hear this it makes me so sad. My newest boyfriend and I just broke up because he was having family issues, And I understand, completely. I went threw the same thing when I was much younger, And I couldn't have handled high school, and a girlfriend and that, And I'm worried about him. Because its a hard thing to go threw. |

Love this song. Mainly because of its refrances to Western Washington's geography. (Go us Washintonians! Mainly the ones from the west side. =]) But back on track, this song reminds me of the way the aristocrcy behaves in A Tale of Two Cities. The endles parties and caring for nothing else. Being so caught up in the life style of parties you forget your reponcibilities. But goodness I hate A Tale of Two Cities, but this is a good song. |

This is such a beafutiful song. If you haven't heard Gibbard play it solo look it up on youtube, it makes the song so much better. "I'll be the platform shoes And undo what heredity's done to you You won't have to strain to look into my eyes" That reminds me of my freshman homecoming, Im 4'11'' and my boyfriend is quite abit taller than me as you can assum and when I took off my heals he had to bend down a good amount to kiss me with me on my tip toes.
