| Straylight Run – Another Word For Desperate Lyrics

I have a feeling John had written bits of this while he was still in TBS, and took them with him when he left 'We can all be sure/Something awful's coming this way'. If that's not about sitting around waiting for him and Adam to fall out, I don't know what is. |

| Ef – Tomorrow My Friend Lyrics

A friend of mine turned me on to these guys when I mentioned I was getting into post-rock. These songs are so good to listen to. I can just mute the TV and watch the images with this music. Is that weird?
Anyway, I love the way the lyrics are delivered on this track. And of course, the music is excellent. |

| Broken Social Scene – Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl Lyrics

I only just got into this band, I can't believe it took me so long. This is the first song of theirs I really connected with. The repetition kind of makes me think of weekend after weekend going the exact same way for the girl in the song, eventually getting the best of her. Then she picks herself up, gets back on track and starts all over again. |

A lot of it sounds like a reworking of '... Lose Your Keys' ( I know someone else said that), but it's a great song in it's own right. I really like the 'It's my last semester' part. Makes me think of my romances (read: romantic failures) at uni. |

I think Dan's talking about getting older, how you get more unsure of yourself, and who your friends are ('which ones miss you when you die'). I think it's probably one of the most eloquent and beautiful Alkaline Trio songs. |

| Taking Back Sunday – My Blue Heaven Lyrics

I think it's about having a fling with a girl who's in a relationship, or otherwise disinterested. As with a lot of TBS songs, it takes a while to figure out what they mean as Adam and the current guitarist/co-vocalist (whomever they may be) often approach a narrative (in terms of the lyrics) through a variety of perspectives. To me, it's really about a guy who's madly in love and a girl who could care less. |

| Funeral Diner – Two Houses Lyrics

I agree with A Shoelace, to an extent, although I think it could also be a commentary on vendettas/gang fights/inter-clique hate (calling the song 'Two Houses' kind of implies that).
A great song from one of my favourite bands. |

| The Gaslight Anthem – Meet Me by the River's Edge Lyrics

The Gaslight Anthem are one of my favourite bands, but their songs aren't really ambiguous, are they? I think they're great stories, though. They make me wanna quit my course and my future and move to a town out on the coast where I'll get a real man's job and spend my nights drinking and chasing girls and dreams through the streets.
Yeah, that was pretty gay of me to say.
Damn good song, though. |

You know, parts of this make me think that he told someone that his name was something it wasn't, then realised he wanted to see more of that person, so was kinda screwed. |

| Alkaline Trio – Fuck You Aurora Lyrics

Not exactly a subtle title, is it?
Great song, though. I'm still wondering if it's about a town where one of the guys grew up, a girl, or something else called Aurora. As far as I'm concerned, it's about a girl, because that makes more sense when you think about the lyrics in the verses, although it'd also make sense if they're talking about a town called Aurora, too... |

| Taking Back Sunday – I'll Let You Live Lyrics

I think a lot of Louder Now can be seen as the perfect soundtrack to a night out and the consequences and recriminations that follow on from it. Considering this song comes right after Error: Operator, it could be seen as being about revenge, or maybe just realising you're the bigger person for moving on from something faster.
Taken out of the context of the album, the song seems to be more about Adam's supposed (I don't exactly know the guy) habit of screwing up relationships ('the first degree was a riot', 'I'm gutting you out', 'you represent and actively encourage all of my worst habits...', 'The guilt subsides...' etc), and also his relation to those around him ('a good freiend who disapporves, but understands'). It could also be about revenge, in some respects. But not in the same way that, say, MCR do revenge. |

It makes me think of a lot of one-night-stands I've had. I often think that there could be something more, except in the morning, I walk her to her place, or call a cab or whatever, then when she's left, I realise 'Wait... She probably just didn't care. Fuck it.' A lot of people can relate to this song, I think. |

Listening to the end of this track gives me chills every time. I didn't knowwhat it was about until I read this page, but to me it always makes me think of letting go of something that you had to, but never wanted to. |

I think it's mostly words to say to someone who's thinking of giving up. Not in a dramatic way or whatever, but if someone's just moping around going "what's the point", I think these is the sort of thing their friends should tell them. |

I really like this, it's one of my favourites from Dude Ranch. It's kinda more serious than the title suggests. Kind of about boredom. This pretty much described my life when I was fourteen. |

| Neil Young – After the Gold Rush Lyrics

|
To my dad, who introduced me to Neil Young, this is an environmental protest song, but to me it sounds like the summer I just had, where me and my best friend Just cruised around our hometown drunk and high all the time, laughing sometimes, sometimes talking about the world, just generally doing the kinds of things you see 18-year-old kids doing in films.
I think my dad's right about Young's meaning, but it's come to mean a lot to me personally. |

I think it's an amazing song, although it makes me sad to listen to, because, to me, the lyrics refelct my own insecurity with regards to spirituality. |
