Billy Joel – Only The Good Die Young Lyrics 17 years ago
A poster up above said that "This song is not so much anti-Catholic as it is pro-lust"

That was actually a quote from Billy Joel himself in an interview, which pretty much sums up the meaning of the song.

U2 – Mission Impossible Theme Lyrics 17 years ago
this wasn't a U2 project. It was Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. They re-worked it to make it a straight 4/4 rhythm, so it would be easier to dance to it.

Billy Joel – She's Got A Way Lyrics 17 years ago
At one of his concerts I attended years ago, he sang Uptown Girl. He then said to the audience: "that was a song I wrote about my second wife. Now here's a song I wrote about my first wife." Then he played She's Got A Way.

I personally like the Songs in the Attic version better than the original album version, but I won' t argue with anyone about it. They're both great.

Billy Joel – That’s Not Her Style Lyrics 17 years ago
You are correct. BJ has said it's about Christie Brinkley.

Billy Joel – Just The Way You Are Lyrics 17 years ago
I saw an interview in the 90's where BJ said now he really dislikes this song, he thinks it's really cheezy. He hasn't played it in concern in quite awhile.

Sarah McLachlan – Hold On Lyrics 17 years ago
This is literally the saddest song I know.

U2 – Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World Lyrics 17 years ago
The woman/bicycle line is a paraphrased quote from Gloria Steinem. The original quote is: "A woman without a man is a like a fish without a bicycle"

U2 – A Sort Of Homecoming Lyrics 17 years ago
The title comes from Jewish poet Paul Celan, who wrote: "Poetry is a sort of homecoming."

U2 – Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me Lyrics 17 years ago
I think Keyser Sushi's long post pretty much nailed it.

U2 – October Lyrics 17 years ago
What's sad, is that originally Bono had written several more verses for this song. But during the time they were working on the album October, his briefcase was stolen, which contained a bunch of lyrics, including the lyrics for this song. Bono was unable to recreate his original lyrics, so U2 just did the song with these 2 short verses.

U2 – Lady With the Spinning Head Lyrics 17 years ago
The title of the song doesn't refer narrowly to a roulette wheel, but rather more broadly to "Lady Luck". It's essentially U2's version of "Luck be a Lady Tonight". The "spinning head" simply refers to the fact that Luck is constantly changing her mood.
