His mum lived just a few roads away from him when he was younger and didn't bother to visit or even let him know, that must have hurt alot. His voice in the last few minutes of this song sounds so painful, its hard to listen to. I can't imagine what that kind of rejection from your parents would feel like.. |

It always makes me sad when I hear songs he's written about his mother, I can't imagine the feeling of being rejected by both of your parents. But he got past it and made the effort form a relationship with her, only for her to be taken away..again. So tragic. I think the first two lines are my favourite, they can be said about so many situations. Reminds me of the feeling when you're so glad to just be talking to a person, however mundane or pointless the subject. Just having that connection comforts you, and you're at peace. |

| The guitar in this really reminds me of The Beatles song Julia, which is about his mother. Maybe this is partly referring to her by using a similar riff..? | |
