It might help to also listen to "Light Leaves", off of Elephant Eyelash. The song can be read as about suicide and sex, however you like the two mixed but I feel there's some obvious suicide references (but this is WHY? we're talking about!) The song ends with applause, after this song about suicide. Which has always struck me in a weird way, almost like they structured the ending to go along with what menoseloso said: "although sometimes i feel like applause is entirely innappropriate and the audience didn't 'get it'." But again, if I really meant it, I'd embrace a dead pet, or enter into a bet.... |
