| I was listening to a Son House radio on pandora and a song came on.. I think it was 'the one they call the seventh son' by Willie Dixon. I immediately thought of this ball and biscuit song. It does seem like a reference to that old blues. It doesn't sound much like zeppelin to me though. I think it's just because Jack listens to all that old blues. Anyways, love this song. | I've only recently heard this version. I guess this is the original.. I have mostly only heard Jack White's covers of it. I've always been a big fan though. Every time I go climbing or wandering in the Arizona desert or whatever, I just forget my worries and feel like I'm on top of the world. This song plays in my head.. every time. | |

| I can't believe there aren't more comments on Howlin Wolf. I'm just barely getting into these really old blues but c'mon guys. To me the smokestack lightning is a reference to smoking. Smoking anything really. He's saying that she can't hear him crying because he isn't. That's kind of what the blues is about isn't it? Go have a cigarette or whatever and move on. That's how I interpret it. | |

You was unlucky there son” “Time gentleman!” Behind paranoid eyes. Here are some lyrics a little later....of the people talking. The whisper that you, erasethepast, were talking about were something like "hello,...some name I couldn't really hear....How are you tonight?" Something like that. probably refering to when he says try to break down your disguise with their questions.....people asking him how he is doing. He of course isn't well but his disguise will hold up and he will keep the mask on. -sp |
