Okay so I was thinking about it some more and now I'm thinking maybe not lust. I'm thinking maybe about depression. This is because of the "I'm going through the motions.... can't remember how to feel." Sounds like a depressed person. Also, the "if this is chemical I'm not ashamed" or whatever it is, would make sense. Because he wouldn't be ashamed to be depressed and hopeless if it's a chemical imbalance in his brain. Which depression is sometimes. So yeah. I think that makes more sense. |

To me, the drugs thing seems like it's more an act of desperation to keep the person alive. Not the cause of the death but a way to keep them alive for a little bit longer. That's just me though. Yeah, so other than that I don't know whether to take this song literally or not. But literally I guess it's desperate for the person to say alive for just a little bit longer. And metaphorically it's desperate for the person to not leave the singer for just a little bit longer. |

Personal issues aside, the first thing I thought this song was about when I heard it was this (and I still agree with myself): The "I" in this song is in serious relationship with the "you." And then he did something that hurt the other person, which is when he saw her deepest feelings. (I don't like the steps I took to get to look into your deepest feelings.) It sounds like he or she or both of them are questioning whether they should continue their relationship after this bad thing happened (Should I discard or remake it?) But ultimately, they, both of them, decided that they would stay together forever, until they die.... So even though he was not the one who was hurt, he loves her and will stay with her while she's hurting. I don't like my wording there because it sounds like it's a noble thing but it's not, because he's the one who hurt her. But it's the best I can do. Let me know what you think, but I think I'm right. |

The verses it seems that he's just talking about how their relationship fell apart and how that's a tragedy to them. And then in the chorus I guess what he's saying is that even though it's not really affecting everyone, it affects them (narrator and ex), and they are a part of everyone. Does that make sense? I clearly do not have the gift of communication that Thiessen does. |

"Anything not to have to Chase you down again" ^^^^^ If you read compare that line to "Don't Walk Away," where she talks about chasing down a boy over and over again (When you know I'm really Down for the chase, Cuz my heart's already in it, And I'm never gonna quit it), then you can pretty much assume this song was written after "Don't Walk Away" and she's given up, as bad as she doesn't want to, on trying to make the relationship work. Especially when the other party(ahem Nick Jonas) isn't really trying. Like in "7 Things" when she says "You love me, you like her," he's obviously into somebody else. And she isn't. And like she said in Seventeen, they were fighting all the time. And I also think this song is about two people in a relationship, and she's singing both perspectives. Like at the line "You know nothing hurts like losing When you know I'm already gone Except for the pain of choosing To hold too long," that would be the other side, the boy. I think in this song Miley seems sad and hurt and upset, but not angry. Maybe she got all the anger out with 7 Things, if only temporarily lol. |

Miley sounds a lot better than Cheyenne while singing this song...or any other song... Cheyenne's voice is annoying. Sorry, Cheyenne. I had no idea this was originally her song until everyone started shoving it down my throat, because I remember when Cheyenne came out and I wouldn't have bought her album if you paid me. Her voice is whiner and she struggles with the high notes. It sounds like she's in pain when she sings. Miley sounds really good. And is cute, puts on a fun performance, and a great songwriter and good musician. But I honestly have no idea what this song means that's why I came here but no one is saying. LAME. |
