| Bell X1 – I'll See Your Heart & Raise You Mine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song is simply paul playing around with a story of the euphamism of the angel and devil over someones shoulder (generally representing moral sonscience) playing poker and falling in love | |

ok i would like to adress the "you came, i think" possible sexual reference debate in case anyone was not aware the original [slightly different] version of this song was called "never" and was performed by juniper which was basically ball x1 + damien rice. now seeing as damien rice probably had some part in the songwriting and he has used the word "come" in a very obviously sexual way in his other songs i would say it ia definitely in relation to the narrator wondering did his partner actually have an orgasm or whether she was faking |

one of y favourite damo songs!!!! also with one of my favourite lyrics ever (i believe to be misprinted on this page): "so go play on your piano and write a mediocre song about this shell of mediocrity and pretend there's nothing wrong" i think this song has three different assesments of one relationship shown throught the three verses: in the first the narrator is tryin to reassure his partner that whatever someone had told her (perhaps that the narrator had been unfaithful) that it isnt true in the second he is admitting that he has been lying to her and is nearly insulting her for not realising it and in the third he is saying that his partner refuses to believe that what he has told her is true |

to completely disagree with the very first comment on this song i think the lines "i'd rather be working for a pay check than waiting to win the lottery" is one of, if not the best lines conor has ever written to me its saying that he would prefer to be out trying to win over the heart of the one he loves than waiting around for her to realise that she wants him! |

| Elliott Smith – Between the Bars Lyrics | 17 years ago |

one of my favourite lyrics of all time: "drink up baby and look at the stars i'll kiss you again, between the bars" in those two lines there's so many feelings!: sweet, creepy, sexy, sinister, threatening etc the list goes on i think this song as a whole may deal with elliott's lack of confidence with women. He keeps repeating for the girl to keep drinking so that he can kiss her "between the bars" which in my opinion is a humourism for oral sex but thats just my opinion. te song as a whole could also mean rape and the between the bars part could mean that the girl he thinks wants him would have to kiss him between cell bars |
