I'm with you here, I just bought the self titled on vinyl the other day and the record slips are covered with what looks like kevin drew's notes/to do list on certain songs, and on Fire eye'd boy one of the notes says "Kill Peter Pan". Peter Pan being representative of an ambitious youth i guess. |

sorry to ruin your fun but this son is not about accepting the homosexual community, when BSS plays this live they ad on this section at the end where he sings
"making it work it takes a little longer
Making it work it takes a little time"
probably about a relationship ending. |

It's songs like this one that remind me why I believe that john darnielle is one of the best modern lyricists alive right now. EVERY song he writes has actual meaning, unlike some of the pap that some people put out.
Hearing this song live was a experience. |

I just saw John Darnielle live in portland and he told us about how this song was about a hotel his friends lived in that was notable for "its remarkable power to destroy" he said he doesnt remember where it is but it was in a broken down neighborhood in portland OR. |

I'm not sure it's about hitler only because of the reference to "pocket change" in the period between the end of WWI and the start of WWII there was no such thing as pocket change in berlin due to rampant inflation, it was cheaper to wallpaper your house with money than actually buy wallpaper. that said if it's referencing hitlers life pre WWI then it could be about hitler I'm just saying that I'm not sure either way I guess. |
