VNV Nation – Endless Skies Lyrics 14 years ago
VNV first introduced to the concept of Maya, through the song Illusion. I hear echoes of that concept in this song, too. It's about stepping outside of the everyday things people tend to get caught up in -- their lives, their identity, their beliefs -- and seeing everything in perspective. To see yourself not as an inidividual, but a part of the eternal, infinite universe.

I think it's similar to Fearless in meaning: "Don't follow me, I'm not your answer,"

But damn Ronan, you make it so hard not to follow you.

The Rakes – Suspicious Eyes Lyrics 16 years ago
In my opinion, it's not about one person or one event. Maybe it was inspired by that story, but I think to say it's just about Jean would be like saying it only happened to him. To me it's much more about the everyday prejudice that goes unspoken.

That's a very moving interpretation of it, but I read in an interview once that Ronan never wrote songs about spcific people because he didn't want to immortalize them in his lyrics. The way he said it was obviously more insightful.

Angie Hart – Blue Lyrics 17 years ago
There are so many different ways to interpret these lyrics. My best guess is that the different parts are about the different characters and what they've been through. I thought all this out while listening to the song, but when I watched the video again, it all seemed to fit almost exactly.

"Night falls
I fall
And where were you?
And where were you?"
About Buffy. More specifically, Buffy in season six, where she was feeling 'wrong' (I fall), but was unable to talk to her friends about it (where where you)

"Warm skin
Wolf grin
And where were you?"
To me, these lyrics have always like they're about sex. I wasn't entirely sure at first, the the video confirmed it by showing Spike at this time. "Where were you" here could be referring to how all the feelings they developed in s5 and early s6, the trust and communication and loving, all when out the window when they kissed.

"I fell into the moon
And it covered you in blue
I fell into the moon
Can I make it right?
Can I spend the night?"
Honestly, no idea. /Maybe/ it's about Buffy's death, and how everyone felt after that (the big swirling vortex did look kind of like a moon, and everyone was very blue after it happened). /Maybe/ it's also about Buffy feels like she can make all the depression that followed her death and resurrection better if she "stays the night".

"High tide
Inside
The air is dew
And where were you?
Wild eyed
I died
And where were you?"
All about Willow and Tara. The first two lines remind me a lot of Tara's song in OMWF (which is actually mentioned later in this ep) High tide- the moon to the tide. Inside - I can feel you inside. It's like it's abbreviation their relationship to the minimum.
Then "wild eyed I died" is pretty self explanatory. "And where were you" would be willow feeling guilty, like Tara is blaming her for not being able to save her.

"I crawled out of the world
and you said I shouldn't stay
I crawled out of the world"
My first thoughts were Buffy and her resurrection, but then the video threw me a bit because it showed Dawn here, when all the other lyrics fit perfectly with the vid. Plus, it doesn't make sense that Buffy should get two verses and Dawn none. So I'm thinking maybe this is about Joyce, and how dawn tried to bring her back into the world.
