Grandaddy – The Final Push to the Sum Lyrics 17 years ago
i agree with this interpretations. i honestly don't undestand the line "Here at the final push to the sum" (english isn't my first languaje).
but i think is about a guy who left a small and quiet place and starts living in a big city and he starts to get used to that place ("But i smile just the same", "i guess that i've moved on"). but that isn't his world, that he doesn't belong to it. when he starts thinking in the place he left behind he realices he has changed and ins't what he used to be "What have i become?".

a very nostalgic song

the saddest song ever written

i agree with all above (also my number 1 funeral song). i always hear it when i'm relly down... it's sings about a feeling, so depth and strong inside you that's almost imposible to put in words.

someone who just can carry on anymore and stops under this tree, where he sees reflected his feelings (he weeps through the willow) and just wants to sleep peacefully. it sounds kinda funeral, i admit it, but when you're really depressed you just wish to hide yourself till everything works out and you're somehow allowed to finally "wake and be happy again". (also the sleep may be a metaphor about take a break on thinking and suffering all the time, which doesn't leave you even sleep...).

i think you've got the idea.
grandaddy's magnus-opus in my opinion

Grandaddy – A.M. 180 Lyrics 17 years ago
I like to think this song is about a guy and a girl who are very close friends but she's getting married (that's why she's changing her name, she'll now use her housband's surname) and he's worried about loosing her.

The rest may not be connected with that first interpretation though. He's been having troubles and they're not as close as they used to, but he still thinks of her and wants her to be there to tell her "when something good happends", maybe go with her when he finally can get organized (in his own head, perhaps?).

And then yes, he wants to be with her as they used to, just hanging out together doing nothing, doing anything... but with her
"Whatever together"

I just love this song and see my best girl friend and me reflected in it (We'll sit for days and talk about things important to us like whatever)
