I don't know, I'm probably interpreting this way too much but it seems like it's a little deeper than racial issues that are pushing them apart. By her continuing to tell him to "look away" it seems like she's hurting herself and there's nothing he can do to stop her. I don't know how her saying "daddy's home" has anything to do with that, maybe she's crazy, I'm not sure. He says, "I don't want to deal with it anymore" and he can't "let her be." I'm probably analyzing too much but that was my first thought when I heard it. |

i think this song is about a couple that needs time apart in order to fix their relationship. they keep fighting about the same things hence "Cause we've been here before, and its getting old. We've been fighting this fight, never taking the time to let things grow." He finally understands that the only way to enhance the relationship is to let go and "let it grow." But he's not ready for that. He doesn't want to see her drive away because it's too hard. But finally, by being apart and talking about it, they're getting somewhere. Maybe the couple is too young to be together because they still have to find out who they are as singles before they can be part of a couple. anyway, good song. probably one of scene aesthetic's best. |

i must agree with a may. even though that comment is pretty old. the guy is saying that this girl just has so much perfection in her life, it follows her around everywhere. but she needs something else. and that's why he's there. he showed up to cure her boredom with her "perfect" life. it makes sense when you see the show. it doesn't necessarily have to be romantic. chris showed up because haley couldn't take the married life anymore. and if you remember, she did kiss him before they ran off together. they realized that there was no romantic connection in there but there was a spark in the beginning. |
