| The Offspring – Hit That Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
As with many of The Offspring's songs, this follows the theme of the futility of the modern promiscuous mindset. It attacks both the guy, who knocks up a girl and proceeds to sleep around on her, and the girl, who sleeps around in retribution. The thesis of the song is laid out crystal clear right near the end: "Sex is a weapon It's like a drug It gets around into that Ground that he just dug" |

| The Offspring – Nothingtown Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I lived in a real-life version of Nothingtown before - Missoula, Montana. Believe me, this song is dead on the money. It's about the townies, the kids that talk about busting out of their safe, dull little slice of suburbia, but never will. The "Hold on tighter/With my lighter" suggests either smoking or good ol' fashioned ganja, but it's a bit vague. It could go either way. |

| The Offspring – The Worst Hangover Ever Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Every now and then, a song is meant to be taken at face value. This is one of those songs, right up there with "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer". | |
| The Offspring – Intermission Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| "Intermission" has no meaning, aside from the intent to amuse and disturb. Amuse, because the old Lawrence Welk-style Muzak is a sharp contrast from the bombastic punk of the rest of the album, and disturb because WHAT in the nine circles of HELL is that guy groaning like that for? | |
| The Offspring – Hammerhead Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This one is fairly simple. A soldier, American, is sent overseas in the Iraq war. He fights, our mantras, our propaganda the only thing that cements his sanity, sure that he's right, that the war is just. And then he realizes it's a lie. Returning to the US, he seeks out the truth, and in gruesome fashion realizes that to him, there is only one true thing. "My aim is true". |
