Hmm I don't know, I'm getting a completely different meaning of this song. I think that it is partly a part of the same theme as Dead Gardens, about not being able to create even though you wish to. I think that can be seen in lines as "The music is dead, the angel is said" and "Perfection my messinger from hell". The "Dead Boy's alive..." and "Wine turns to water..." verses might show that what kept him creating and all the emotions that followed are gone. I think in Dead Gardens, he was sad about it, here he is angry and ashamed, and the pressure from the surrounding world is much higher. Thuss the corus. |

I definately don't think it is about sex, at least not just. The lines: "Would you do it with me Heal the scars and change the stars Would you do it for me Turn loose the heaven within" Simply seems to call for a kind of love much deeper than "just" sex. I think it is about the deepest love possible, the love, the love where you trust people enough to want them to be your soulmates. About the Tarja thing I simply don't know. I see the point while talking about "End of an era" an the hints in the songs like Morana said, but it just sounds too incredible to me. But a beautiful and romantic thought indeed! |

"Take heed dear heart once apart, she can touch nor me nor you". I first resently found out what she was actually singing and I fell in DEEP love with that line, there is just such a weight in it! I think it is about I guy who is trembling with lust, and almost can't bear it, but he is insecure to carry it out in the real life. Partly because he is affraid of the powerful feelings himself, and partly because he is affraid to hurt the girl (For the bride too dear for him). |

I tend to say that it is about sex as well, plain, simple, but as always beautiful. The "sinister undertones" that Xceptic pointed out, and ended up being Shakespere quotations, might show that the "I" in this song basically has some problems in life and needs to drown them in sex. I really think it is an interesting thought that Picajo had about elderly people, but again that the line "november dressed in may on your face" simply means that the "you" in the song can lighten up a bad day for the "I". I really love that line in particular! |

I really see what you mean leopardi, I mean, considering how increadibly beautiful Nightwish can be, it is a wonderfully romantic idea that all that was created to try to win unreturned love. When that is said, I think that you are mistaken. It would just be too fantastic and far-fetched. Still, I do get your point about Everdream. When it comes to this song, I really agree with xnightxrainx, I think you caugth it right on the spot (is that at all an expression? :-P), exept that I would say that an Oceansoul is someone who are not able to blend in. It makes sence in this context to say that an Oceansoul is someone that the poet wants to be like, but the metaphore and theme appears in other contexts too where it makes more sence that the person is lonely. I actually think that is was Century Child that was dedicated to "all Oceansouls in the world" or something like that. Finally, I just wanted to add that I've thought that it was ironic to hear Tarja sing "I only wished to become something beautiful", I meen, who says that she is'nt? :-P |

I can't believe that no-one has commented on this song before! It is absolutely beautiful and, at least for me, has such a strong meaning. For me, it is about being at some place in your life where you are satisfied as you are right now, but you are also aware that you need to move on in order to evolve as a person. At least, that is what it made me feel, but that could also be because of the fact that I was somewhere similar in my live. |
