| you all are idiots. this song is clearly about loneliness. every line in this song represents that. and hes not talking bout someone else. hes talking about himself. and when he says we hes referring to himself... theres a deeper meaning to music which most people dont see. everyone thinks songs are about sex, drugs and rock n roll. i prefer other site that offer more professional opinions rather than the general public. because some people on here have no idea what they are talking about. | |

| I disagree with what everyone has said. Blue has been used time and again to symbolize depression... come on haven't we all heard Conors other songs... he suffers from depression. the happy tone to it is mask. people with depression often know how to put on "happy" face for the crowd. the happy tone itself was used to symbolize that happy face. this song is about depression and how he has gotten so used to it, he cant imagine life without depression. | |

i think the writer is talking about himself from a third person point of view. when he was younger he rebelled andwent against society, its what the young people consider freedom. but this man went through life only seeking money. "Don' you draw the queen of diamonds, boy She'll beat you if she's able You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet" but ignored his true feelings hiding behind a very egotistical attitude towards life thinking he was above everyone else around him. his third person aspect of the song though is him trying to tell himself how lonely this life has been for him and how unhappy he is with his fake ideals. being very closed off |
