The Decemberists – We Both Go Down Together Lyrics 16 years ago
I know this is very random, but this song instantly reminded me of a Lifetime movie I saw the other night called Plain Dirty. (Don't hate!)

In the movie, a high-class,wealthy layer falls in love with a poor Southern girl named Inez.
He speaks of his love for the dirt under her fingernails and green caterpillars in her hair.
While he cares not what his family things about it, the girl is stuck in an abusive marriage.
Desperate to be with the gentleman, Inez arranges to have her husband murdered.
After a whole mess of Lifetime-esque drama, the lawyer is framed for the murder and taken to prison while Inez runs off to do her own thing, without a trace of guilt for the man she supposedly loved.

Similar, in a way.

Saturday Looks Good to Me – When We Die There Will Be More Lyrics 16 years ago
The literal meaning is pretty obvious. The fear and questions of life and death and afterlife.

I think it's possible that this song may hold a metaphoric meaning of a relationship coming to it's end as well, but that's just a guess

"When summer began, the thunderstorms came"
I interpret the thunderstorms as problems or fights in the relationship.

"Because when we die there,
there will be more just,
more just like all of us."
It seems like everyone struggles in a relationship at some point.
No matter how much your love suffers, when it's over for you, there will stillbe plenty of heart ache in the world to go around.?

"And when our ghosts return,
backwards in time to relive our lives,
they might forget what to do. "

I interpret this part as saying that when you finally break up and move on to a new relationship, you may forget your past mistakes and make them again with your new lover.

Who kows?

Bright Eyes – Amy in the White Coat Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is so haunting. I get chills from listening to it.
It's really quite sad. Aside from the fact that "Amy" is a victim of molestation, her disgusting father makes her feels as if it is her obligation to let him molest her.
"We all follow the rules,
We can't very well go and break them now, can we?"

On top of that, she has a terrible school life where she is picked apart and critisized.

It's truley heart-wrenching that when (the singer) attempts to talk to her, she ignores him and keeps walking. I imagine she isolates herself because she doesn't know how to react to kindess or friendliness, which is a shame.

The worst part is that this sad song is true for many girls in the world today.

Brand New – Handcuffs Lyrics 17 years ago
I know that many people have probably pointed this out, but as I'm too lazy to go through all of the comments..
The lyrics say "i'd hold them down and i'd squeeze real soft". Honestly, it sounds much more chilling than "squeeze real hard", which is just gross.

Alesana – Apology Lyrics 17 years ago
I honestly don't think this song has anything to do with him killing her..
Hopefully you were joking.
Also it's strange but I never saw this song being about a relationship based solely on sex like many other people are suggesting.

I always thought of it as a relationship gone bad due to the lies and deceit of the woman/girl.
In the line "broken pieces will not mend to save our past now", it makes it sound as if at one point they had something good going for them and eventually it all went down the gutter.

I wonder what myth this song is based on.
