It's not really emo at all. What I got from the song was that everybody is a broken person inside; nobody really has it all together, but in order to be "cool" in the eyes of others we try to hide our weakness. (It's "a wound that no ones wants to speak of".) So for example, the firewall he feels safe behind is that veil of coolness he hides behind around people. I don't think they were confronting any specific issue like drugs or harming yourself, they're just encouraging people to drop their facade and be themselves for God. :) |

(It's "a wound that no ones wants to speak of".) So for example, the firewall he feels safe behind is that veil of coolness he hides behind around people. The singer of the song is asking God to remove this fake wall we all hide behind so that we are left with nothing to cling to but the Lord. He's saying we're all broken, sinful, and human and only God is strong enough for us to lean on and when we give up some of that shell of "coolness" we can move closer to Him. |
