This song is everything that is going on right now for me. I guess you could say I'm the girl in the song--I've even said "You gotta love yourself if you can ever love me" to my boyfriend, who is a wonderful, sweet guy, but who seems to really be suffering from a lifetime of low self-esteem...he's gotten better since we started dating, but sometimes everything crashes down on him and it all starts up again. At times he becomes avoidant and won't tell me things because he knows it will hurt me--and it breaks my heart even more. I still love him with all my heart, but it's so hard with everything, especially since it's a long-distance relationship. I don't think he was aware of the song at the time, but he had told me that he would do "whatever it takes" to make the relationship work, even though he thinks I deserve better than him... I can't wait to see him in a month--it will be my first time seeing him in eight months, and I miss him so much. :( He means the world to me... |
