| Sugarland – Joey Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Did anyone notice that she sings about Joey again in "Everyday America". I can see it must have been a high school elationship. Jennifer Nettles has one of the best vocals in music in my opinion, and this song is one of my favorites, especially when she performs it live. | |

| i'm sure somewhere in the 8 pages of comments someone said something similar to this, but after listening to this song really closely i think it's a back and forth conversation between the singer and god.. the singer sings the main verses, and god responds to him with the chorus verse "yeah, you know you gotta help me out. yeah, ohh dont you put me on the backburner, you're gonna bring yourself down.." God/whatever superior you believe in is pleading with him to just hold on and remember he is there for him.. listen to the song and look at it that way and it gives you a whole new perspective of the lyrics. amazing song. | |

| one of the best love songs i've ever heard.. i saw his acoustic performance last night and i agree with the comment above, when he sings it acoustically it just melts the entire room.. he introduced the song as "how he officially knew he had become pussy wipped" lol. i can't wait to feel the way for someone how he feels for his wife | |

i love the acoustic version to this song.. I wasn't too sure what the lyrics meant the first time I heard it, all I knew was that somehow I could relate to it all by the sound of his voice. after reading how everyone else interpreted it, and listening to it again I feel like the entire song is about himself, and when he sings the second verse, he's in fact still singing about himself (he's singing about what has happened to him and saying it could happen to anyone) the "you" he's referring to is anybody.. he's just singing about his experience. and that's why at the end of this verse, he goes back to singing about himself.. And you'll be lost Every river that you tried to cross Every gun you ever held went off Ohhh and I'm... Just waiting until the firing stopped Ohhh and I'm... Just waiting 'til the shine wears off |

| i agree with your post too, the very first time I heard the song the first thing I thought of was a son whos father was not in his life and then all of a sudden appeared years later... | |
| The Fray – You Found Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| My interpretation is he probably wrote it meaning both god and someone else who wasn't there to help him through a really tough time, and from experience that hurts being let down by someone you always think will be there for you, whether it be god, a family member, friend, etc.. It sounds as though whoever this person is, god or whoever, they showed up a little too late and by the time they appeared he was already at a rock bottom and his faith in them was lost.. It's hard to put your trust back in someone who suddenly appears when they see you're at a rock bottom, but never bothered to appear when you were taking the slow plunge down and were screaming for help up until that point... | |
