This song is about a car accident. I could feel a hot one taking me down For a moment, I could feel the force Veiny to the point of tears And you were holding on to make a point What's the point? (talks about the actual impact of the accident) I am but a clean man, stable and alone man Make it so I won't have to try The faces always stay the same So I'll face the fact that I'm just fine I said that I'm just fine (He's injured, but he's alright) I remember, head down After you had found out Manna is a hell of a drug And I need a little more, I think Because enough is never quite enough What's enough? (Maybe they're intoxicated?) I took it like a grown man crying on the pavement Hoping you would show your face But I haven't heard a thing you've said In at least a couple hundred days What'd you say? (Referring back to the accident, She's dead now.) I was in the front seat, shaking it out And I was asking if you felt all right I never want to hear the truth I want to hear your voice, it sounded fine My voice is sounding fine (She was driving, he asked if she was alright, knowing she wasn't. He just wanted to hear her voice) I could feel my heartbeat taking me down And for the moment, I would sleep all right (Passing Out) Veiny with a selfish fear To keep me up another restless night Another restless night (He's going to lose sleep, obviously :p) The blood was dry, it was sober The feeling of audible cracks (Again, She was likely Intoxicated?) And I could tell it was over From the curtains that hung from your neck (Dried blood resembled curtains, she obviously bled out.) And I realized that then you were perfect With my teeth ripping out of my head And it looked like a painting I once knew Back when my thoughts were not the leak intact (He loves her more than anything, and he's realizing she's gone.) So I prayed for what I thought were angels Ended up being ambulances (She's dead, his prayers weren't answered) And the Lord showed me dreams of my daughter She was crying inside your stomach (God showed him that his unborn daughter is still alive, they likely saved her) And I felt love again (A happy(ish) ending :) that's what makes most sense to me |

it sounds like in the chorus he's crying out to God... "I AM ALL THAT YOU'VE MADE ME" and "TAKE THIS LIFE THAT YOU GAVE ME "... it sounds like he's surrendering. Also "I pray for redemption" and "the distant voices sing to me and everything changes suddenly " the first verse is probably about how he's been following the masses in sin and he doesn't want to anymore, he wants to follow God. This song was written when they were still a Christian band... |

I think the song is written fro the perspective of God or Jesus the part where it says "why have you waited so long to embrace me my dear" and "Release me from this cross after all these years Call my name and help me with this weight" i really think it's pro religion from the point of view of Jesus... =] |
