this song is wendla forshadowing her death from abortion. See the father bent in grief The mother dressed in mourning Sister crumbles, and the neighbors grumble The preacher issues warnings It's also about gossip and how her mother made her get her fateful abortion despite the risks because of what people would think if she had a baby at 15. I'm not sure about the eve refrence, i think it's more about how she (wendla) did wrong in societies eyes. |

In the play right before they sing touch me moritz and melchior are talking about the sex book that melchi wrote for moritz. the lines right before they start singing are something like 'just imagine what it (sex) would be like for the girl, it must be so much more intense ( ok they don't say intense but whatever lol) to restrain yourself and then give yourself up for extacy.' basically... they're putting themselves in the girl's place. the dialogue in the middle of the song is censored. moritz doesn't say measure up or anatomies, he says it's like the whole world is mesmorized with P and V, and then like I just don't understand how it fits. (hee), the edited version sounds like he's gay. the rest of the song is like, they all want to be touched because they are restriced from... doing so... |
