Rajaton – Butterfly Lyrics 16 years ago
This is SUCH an amazing song. I can only hope that the reason nobody has posted yet is because the meaning isn't all that hidden, as opposed to nobody listening to it...

As for the meaning, I think it's one of those "seize the day" kinds of songs - love while you can, because life is otherwise too short.

Five for Fighting – Chances Lyrics 16 years ago
First of all, though I'm not sure about what the lyrics *should* be, I'm pretty sure you're wrong in the bridge. For instance, I think the last line is "You gotta cry before you sing", instead of "You got a crowd then float you see". Also, I think earlier on it's "Don't get me wrong, I never say never".

As for meaning, to me it's about starting a new relationship with someone. Chances are it's not going to last, no matter how it feels at the beginning. I think it could be about whether or not a relationship is worth having when you're unsure of its outcome, but he seems to be saying that sometimes it's worth taking the chance.

Maybe a bit cheesy, but I like the song!

James Blunt – Love Love Love Lyrics 17 years ago
Hey! I'm the first one to post! I guess it has only been out a week...

It makes sense to me, having recently been through an awkward break up. It could be that he loves a girl, and maybe they've broken up, but he still has feelings for her. Maybe he thinks he's being honorable by telling her he has no feelings for her anymore so she can go off to pursue her own dreams without remaining accountable to him. Or it could be that he was the one breaking up with her, and he loves her but can't stay in the relationship, so lies to set her free.

Either way, the juxtaposition between the music video visuals and the actual song is quite astounding, you should check it out!

Five for Fighting – 100 Years Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm going to be a jerk again and point out how easy it is to misconstrue anything. For instance, this song could be about Nazi Germany, and the rise of the Third Reich:

In 1915, the height of the first world war, Germany definitely had to make some tough choices, and lots of their choices at this point affected their history, and their tumble into the Nazi government. Still time for them indeed.

1922 was approaching the terrifying hyperinflation that crippled the country, not to mention the weakening government. It was around this time that Hitler was elected leader of the National Socialist party, and the timing of the Beerhall Putsch. "We're on fire" and "feels better than ever" for the party definitely applies.

1933 - Hitler takes power. He is a man, but also a they (The royal 'we', perhaps) in the sense that he alone controls an entire country ("family on my mind").

1945 - "the sea is high" and "heading into a crisis"? Couldn't be clearer.

Don't get me wrong, I love this song - I'm just poking fun at some people who can read anything out of anything at all!

Kelly Clarkson – Never Again Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm just going to be a jerk and say this is from Big Brother's point of view in 1984.

Think about it!
"Bet it sucks to see my face everywhere"
"You chose to end it like you did"
"When you're in bed with her you think of me"
"Don't say you simply lost your way"

Then he talks about them being "trophy wives" and how they'll die "together but alone" (remember in the book how the marriages were terrible?)

But of course, the real kicker is "Ignorance is Bliss". Almost from the ministry of ignorance itself!

Don't get me wrong, I do like the song. ;)
