I disagree with it being about the end of a relationship. I think it's about the beginning of a relationship. "I cant believe I made it here, Today I'm afraid of yesterday." That sounds to me like the beginning of an intense relationship, and being afraid yesterday when he was alone. Especially later in the verse " I wrote this letter to you my dear Incase, afraid, this fades away." The middle of the song reminds me of how when you first really love someone, every little setback like a phone call not returned, or going a day without seeing the other person is so devastating. Just the overall feel of the song is like when you meet someone and have such intense overwhelming emotions because of that new relationship and the vulnerability that comes with it, but also the comfort and excitement of having someone to wake up for each day. |
