i'm so surprised that almost no one has thought that this song is about birth control & sex. "Baby, did you forget to take your meds?" like his girlfriend or whatever forgot to take her birth contol. "I was alone, falling free Trying my best not to forget What happened to us, what happened to me What happened as I let it slip" maybe they had a past thing going on? & they got back together & they loved each other? "How it mattered to us, how it mattered to me And the consequences I was confused by the birds and the bees Forgetting if I meant it" how sex mattered to him & how it was important, him being a typical guy. he didn't think that she would get pregnant because he was confused by the birds & the bees. maybe he loved the girl, but once she got preg, he didn't know if he meant it. "And the sex, and the drugs, and the complications" they had sex, she forgot to take her pill, & now she's pregnant. DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE IT AS I DO? i swear that's what the song is about. |

of course this song was written when someone was trippin' hard on some kind of hallucinogens. it's about lewis caroll's "alice's adventures in wonderland" & "through the looking glass". lewis caroll DID in fact do drugs. mostly opiates. he was obsessed with a little girl named alice liddel. what i've heard is that the story "alice in wonderland" was told to alice from lewis when lewis would take alice on a boat & tell her stories. you know how sometimes children stories are complete nonsense? also, thr REAL alice, not the one in the movie had brown hair, not blonde. just thought that was something interesting. |
