| The Academy Is... – Skeptics and True Believers Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song is definately written from two different perspectives both on the same relationship. I think the first half would be from the guys POV then the second half from the girl's. I totally agree with everything fallenauthority said.. Also note the "So who's 'selfish' and who's 'sorry'?" I kind of feel like the two people in the relationship have been hurt and almost afraid to fall into love again. I feel like the first verse is emphazing the fact that there is no need to fear falling into this relationship while the second verse would doubting love hense the "Skeptics and True Believers" title of the song. I think both people are coming off from hard relationships hense the "don't believe a word you've heard about me" part where the past relationship was shrouded with rumors, ect. "When I'm gone You'll be going nowhere fast Nowhere fast, nowhere fast" ^^ Sort of a general understanding of the hurt that comes with the absense of your significant other. And a final point would be the bridge when you hear: "Don't be so scared It's harder for me" I think the two "lovers" feel like its harder for themselves to get back into the relationship. So while they don't want their other to be frightened by commitment they are being "selfish" and putting themselves first by thinking its harder for them. Idk just my interpretation but I think it might be a little bias with what I'm currently going through with my current boyfriend. |

Very cute song. I love chase coy so much. This song is like my current relationship to par. There's a huge age difference between me and my boyfriend which has almost broken us up multiple times. But yeah, all these little lines remind me so much of us. I don't think that the couple in the song are broken up, more just going through a rough patch or trying to overcome something. Either way, the way the song is sung is very sweet. |
