I love Arcade Fire. First off, he could be chanting gibberish and it would still sound unbelievable. This song is brilliant- right down to the vague target of ridicule. I tend to think there's a little bit of all of us being projected in this tune. We can all be ignorant and we can all be pretentious. Exhibit A: Palindromic. (Thanks for spitting out all those generalizations with such outright disregard for the vernacular. You've really helped in making a point, I think.) Honestly, who here knew what "Rococo" meant before using that divine Google search? Not me, but I sang along anyway. Even without a definition, I'd still be singing. And in doing so, I'd be unwittingly proclaiming my own idiocy. Now I get to do it knowingly :) Ba-rilliant. So, in my opinion, it's about the ignorant. It's about teenagers. It's about adults. It's about humanity and our constant desire to look like something special. Rococo. |

I agree with Wambs to some extent. I feel the man wants, more than anything, to be with this woman, but he knows he doesnt deserve her. He'll destroy her if she stays, and for that he wants her to leave, to "save her soul." She standing outside holding me Saying oh please I'm in love I'm in love This to me, this sounds like he tried to end it (probably in a feeble, half-hearted manner), but she wont go, she's just as involved as he is. so i guess i dont believe they arent good for each other. i think they're probably perfect for each other, but the man is unable to see himself clearly. he believes he doesnt deserve her, that she has everything without him and absolutely nothing with him. my favorite part of this song is the beginning when he says he should never make presumptions regarding her emotions, then he goes on to say, "you'll learn to hate me"... just thought it was funny. thats a pretty big assumption. |

if you think about this as a premature bella and edward, the whole song starts making sense. i got totally caught up in the ENTIRE series, and i really didnt understand a lot of the song because of it. you have to take yourself back to the beginning to be able to really comprehend the lyrics. "we've gone and made such fools of ourselves" okay... pretty self-explanitory... a vampire and a human fell in love. foolish. or you could look at it another way: that their love MAKES them foolish, not that their love IS foolish. i think these might be how the lyrics go: how can i ever own whats mine when you're always taking sides but you wont take away my pride... anyway, im at a loss for what "when youre always taking sides" could mean. this whole section kind of reminds me of the time in the hospital after edward stops the van from smashing bella. he wont fill her in, but she knows something is up, and she wont let him "take away her pride" by treating her like she's unaware of this fact. |

yes, Paramore deserves to have their music EVERYWHERE because they're amazing, but i like to have individuatlity when it comes to music so it is a little annoying. why i can suck it up and get over it... i love twilight and the fact that one of my favorite bands is making songs SPECIFICALLY designed for twilight is sweeeeeeeeet. yeah, i love this song. favorite part: The truth is hiding in your eyes And it's hanging on your tongue Just boiling in my blood But you think that I can't see What kind of man that you are If you're a man at all |
