Haha. The Easter Bunny is the same as Jesus? Funny. However, this song is very religious. The whole thing is about Jesus. Self-righteous suicide and such. Basically they are implying that Jesus was not the Savior but instead just an angel. Which I don't believe, but that's me. I do know, however, the part that is most questionable to people... "Father, Father, Father, Father, Father/ Into your hands/I/commend my spirit, Father, into your hands, Why have you forsaken me, In your eyes forsaken me, In your thoughts forsaken me, In your heart forsaken, me oh," That is the last thing Jesus said before he died. Which most people know... however... Jesus was not asking God why he had to die. Jesus already knew and had prepared his disciples. He was quoting Psalm 22. This Psalm was written by David and is a prophesy of Jesus. If you read the entire Psalm, you will see what I mean. "11 Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help. 12 Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me. 13 Roaring lions tearing their prey open their mouths wide against me. 14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me [b] in the dust of death. 16 Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced [c] my hands and my feet. 17 I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me. 18 They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing." Jesus did not consider God turning his back on him, although God did have to. This single bit is always taken out of context and used to try and show weakness in Jesus. Anyway... I did a study on this because it was so interesting. |
