This is one catchy song. The lyrics are eerily similar to a situation I'm sort of in. About two years ago I wrote this poem/song and I ended up giving it to my friend. He and I then had a falling out. Recently, I went to his MySpace out of sheer curiosity and found this poem on one of his blogs, The poem was mediocre at best, but it had this line that just stuck out. The next day I realized it was MY LINE. So the line, "I wept as I heard you speak the words I know you didn't write" fits perfectly in this scenario. By the way, the line was I'd kill for you / and eat the flesh / give you the heart / and burn the rest (can you tell I'm mainly influenced by Davey?) |

Since Ruiner follows Closer in the album's line-up, I believe that the Ruiner has just satiated his sexual appetite and is ready for something else, perhaps another vice. The chorus can be perceived as being blatantly about a man and his sexual organ. However, I just think this was Trent's way of making something dull sound nasty. The song itself is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard. I'll go as far as to call it a masterpiece. Every time you listen to it you hear yet another little sound you didn't hear before. The song incorporates many genres: rap, rock, industrial, etc. Just one of the best (as you can tell from my usernam.) How'd you get so big? |

This is the most powerful song I've encountered since God knows when. I never expected to be blown away by VNV Nation so much, but this song just did that. I can listen to this song many times in a row. I think the song is about the fact that the narrator is starting to doubt his purpose in life. The fact that he's sorry for saying things like this means that the people around him don't feel the same. He knows he's becoming lost. But he has no one to blame but himself. Plus, it may all just be in head. That's why he deosn't wany "tears," nor "sympathy. This is just the way I feel right now. There are some things that have happened to me in the past few months. I will forever cherish this song. |
