| I don´t think this song is specifically of anaorexia, it clearly talks about it but it seems that he´s saying that he stopped having anaorexia ("a portrait of my skeletal gain") but still he feels depressed, as the chorus states, as if his eating disorder is not what kept him depressed. He just keeps looking for way to be depressed. About the "dreams" line it seems that he always imagines himself being happy, fullfilled, but that keeps him away from reality and causes more damage due to the fact tahat he is not confronting his problems. | |

| I think dearest helpless got it right about being from natalie´s point of view but only the chorus. It seems that Daniel is complaining about her not being with him when he needed company. "Let my spirit ride in a one way mule" as in you´re letting this relationship work only one way, "blistered skin in a cold hearted pool" how he feels, blistered skin´s pain is amplified in a cold pool, as in pain is amplified besides a cold heart (natalie). In the chorus she may be saying just love me for how I am, don´t expect anything else from me, when I have time I´ll take care of you. | |

| I like the album, but this is by far NOT the most honest, crafted, best album. Do you really think that an album that makes you want to dance goes along with Daniel´s deprressant life? As for the "mature" label that everybody´s talking about, I don´t think that they´ve matured musically in this album, they just went for another direction. It was sort of announced if you take a look at the differnce of songs from neon ballroom to diorama. I think that they matured musically starting in neon ballroom, there you see a much more serious band, writing and playin powerful emotional stuff. | |

I think that me-luv-stle is on the right track, it´s about being in a relationship while being depressed and that´s making you bring your girl down. He seems confused, in the line: "Maybe departure's good Makes room for more Start to mass produce For a chance to ignore" it seems that she left and starts to think that maybe it´s better to be with many different people (mass produce) for him to be distracted. This line is obvious, he doesn´t have any luck with love, like many other song he has written: "Maybe your luck has changed Settle down" |

I think that is very clear that this song is about Daniel´s anaorexia and his depressive state that led him to take anti-depressants. Of course it can be related with any other type of addiction but when he says "Burn my knees and" is literally talking about hurting his knees when he´s throwing up. Just like Ana´s song, he said "On my knees for you". There´s another phrase: "Distorted eyes, when everything is clearly dying" as in Ana´s Song´s "In my head the flesh seems thicker" which is one of the most significant symtpoms of anaorexia. So his mind is distorting his sight when clearly his entire body is dying. You can see in Ana´s Song´s video that he is watching a mirror and his hands look all covered in mud and dirty so he is cleaning them again, and again but they stay the same but in reality they are clean. |

We know for a fact that is about losing someone...I think that the line "You make me smash the clock and feel" I'd rather die behind the wheel" shows that is dedicated to Cliff. He'd rather die behind the wheel of the bus instead of Cliff because he is suffering more by being alive missing him. Someone earlier posted that Jaymz destroyed his hotel room after Cliff's death which leads the the clock mentioned in the song, but of all things in a room Jaymz mentioned smashing a clock, which can be interpreted as you made lost track of time by waiting for you or someone like you. Metallica never fully recovered form Cliff's death, just look at the date of this song and the date of cliff's death, Jaymz still continues to write about him. |
