I'm not sure what the band's intentional meaning is, or the bigger picture, but the first verse brings to mind someone troubled and having been caught after running from the law in the woods, and other lyrics throughout comment on this as well. The title seems to be a reference to Stephen King's IT, in which the Deadlights are the truest form of the antagonist Pennywise, rendering anyone who sees them instantly insane. A lot from this album brings to mind 70's and 80's horror movie imagery and samples from horror films. Also, I think the lyric: 'suicidal in the setting sun' is actually 'SUN DIAL in the setting sun' |
