Geoff said this song was based off of a nightmare he had when he was a kid, where his father was the one climbing the dark mountain. I think this song tries to capture the helpless feeling he had when this dream occurred, it also directly speculates about the meaning of the dream with lines like: "Was it a metaphor for all the subtle ways we would grow apart? Was it mortality?" |
