I think its about a corrupt scare mongering two faced government..... scaring people with ice age talk...pretending to be concerned about women and children...pretending to be fair and listening to concerned people but then proceeding with its own agenda nothing affects them...they don't feel the repercussions ....they are only concerned with cell phones and money |

This song is beautiful.....but the lyrics here are all wrong here. Its.... You shove your way through the room from the street and finally to me and ask me what I'm drinking. My friend Johnny tuggin on my sleeve, asks if I want to leave but what Im really thinking is Why cant it be easy easy Why dont you leave, leave me, leave me be I can see you swaying but I cant hear what you're saying Im sitting here stuck and plastered to my seat, I think up a reason to leave when you finally stop speaking. I think this song is about the roles people play in each others lives that they dont realize they play. They may seem insignificant at the time but a chance encounter could be a catalyst of an important chain of events. I think Thom is singing about being the catalyst.... a guy hitting on a girl at a bar knowing that her boyfriend or ex boyfriend is watching and causing them to realize how much they (the girl and her ex)love each other possibly. "She looks back, You look back...Wish away your night mare .....Youve got a light and you can feel it on your back" She is being watched by her ex-boyfriend. "You never really got me there...I just pretended that I had" I think is saying....you dont really do it for me but Ill pretend that you do so that he will see what he is missing out on. And then the last line is looking at the big picture and how it all came together. |
