Queens of the Stone Age – Into The Hollow Lyrics 13 years ago
Maybe...a song alluding to him & the wife (Queen Bee to his Baby Duck) tying the knot? I know it's spelled hollow, but he could've changed one of the letters to make the meaning less obvious (changing "hallow" to "hollow"). Plus hollow and follow rhyme better. Just a theory...

Definition of HALLOW
transitive verb
1 : to make holy or set apart for holy use
2 : to respect greatly : venerate

Synonyms: consecrate, bless, sacralize, sanctify

As in...pap smeared (tests clean) and pierced (monroe piercing)?
Or Monroed, i.e. Marilyn...?

InMe – The Art of Moderation Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm assuming the addiction in question too, is alcoholism. I mean if you think of the title, we're always told to "drink in moderation," and in that light I think it makes sense.....also, "little fishy got away this time," if you drink like a fish, chances are you're an alcoholic.
Just my idea...

Thin Lizzy – Massacre Lyrics 17 years ago
I could be horribly wrong about this, but it might be the Battle of the Alamo he's talking about here....there were about 600 or so mexican casualties, and he mentions a "bandalero." Just a shot in the dark here...

The Pretenders – Mystery Achievement Lyrics 17 years ago
i think it's about chrissie's personal struggle with the demands of fame, and with becoming a famous musician/rockstar. i mean, mystery achievement, couldn't that be another way of saying stardom? i think if i'm not mistaken, the pretenders were sorta gaining popularity during that time frame, and maybe this is her way of addressing fame? re-read the lyrics, and someone tell me if this helped them make sense of them at all.

Soundgarden – Half Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree that this song is trippy, and really cool, and the middle eastern riffs everyone talks about, i really dig that. anyone else just think that maybe tho, it's sorta comic relief? i mean, this album has alot of darker, heavier songs on it (take for example, the one following this track, "like suicide"). maybe they let ben sneak in a funny? i always thought it was a bit of a spoof, this song, just to be taken lightly, not so seriously. but the lyrics are nice, and do have a message, even with a sorta goofy song.

as far as lyrical content, i think this dude's about to get kicked out for "mr. full, mr. have"
maybe he still has half a chance with his gf, if she decides not to go the shallow, superficial route?

Soundgarden – She's a Politician Lyrics 17 years ago
She sound like the stereotypical "Bitchy girlfriend," that most guys complain about. You'll never be right, or win in the argument, cuz she'll corner your ass and make you agree with her on everything. It's not about a wrong or right way, it's all about "her" way. :) And it rightly should be, boys, if you know what's best.

Soundgarden – Girl U Want (Devo cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
Tank Girl soundtrack uses the Devo version, and a Joan Jett version if I'm not mistaken.....personally, I think Soundgarden's version sounds best. :)

Porcupine Tree – Blackest Eyes Lyrics 17 years ago
Everyone has added tremendously helpful commentary on the lyrics' meaning, so just a little extra insight.....if anyone out there isn't convinced this is about a mentally disturbed killer/rapist, go watch the video!!!! Look up "blackest eyes" on youtube, and watch the damn video, the imagery used clears up the meaning quite a bit.
Hope that helps!

Scott Weiland – Barbarella Lyrics 17 years ago
If anyone listens to the second verse, I'm pretty sure it's weiland's take on religious beliefs. In his view, he believes there's some higher power, but he's not taking any one religion's view on it. "Let go, let god they say, I do believe but not in yours or yours. I just believe it's all the same." That part's pretty obvious. Then he says, "Don't know just who I am, don't know about the lamb. I'm the meat of the feast." Clearly, he's referencing Jesus. "The Lamb," is a metaphor for Jesus, and as far as him being the meat of the feast.....no idea. Messiah complex? Dunno, he's maybe making a comparison between him and Jesus tho, meat of the feast referring to Jesus and the last supper.
So none of this clarifies the rest of the song, but that's my little 2 cent chime-in on the 2nd verse. Hope that helps someone!
