Ben said at a concert in Kansas City on Oct 22, 2008 that the album version is about (pretty obviously) a guy who doesn't believe he could be at fault for the breakup. The fake version is about a young Republican lawyer. At this point the crowd booed, but Ben assured us that we would feel sorry for him by the end of the song. This young lawyer takes a date he doesn't know very well to the law firm's Christmas party. While there, the date does a line of coke. Within minutes, she starts spilling all her radical, flaming leftist liberal ideologies, ruining the young lawyer's career. I really like both versions actually. |
