Madvillain – Monkey Suite Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Villain'll hold the mic like he's mean and his tummy hurt" Extremely meaningful hook, rife with the scent of ferocity and artistic suffering. |
Raekwon – Spot Rusherz Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I'm absolutely shocked to find that this song has not been reviewed on this website yet! After reading the lyrics and listening the the song simultaneously, I found the poetry, storytelling, and above all the rhythm and delivery to be flawless. It's one of the smoothest, most cryptic raps by Raekwon. |
Madvillain – Curls Lyrics | 14 years ago |
If you read the lyrics you'll notice that he mentions points in the protagonist's life where he turns a certain age ("Then he turned four and started throwing to the poor", "He was seven"), which may be a way of expressing the immaturity of materialism. |
GZA/Genius – Investigative Reports Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It took me a while, but I realized after scanning the lyrics that the GZA tells an entire story of a young criminal who is killed in his zealous attempt to gain power in the a certain crime ring in his stanza. Strangely enough, it is told by the police's point of view. The Genius is the witty Wu-Tang that is unpredictable. |
GZA/Genius – Swordsman Lyrics | 15 years ago |
There are many points in the GZA's songs where he purposely betrays the rhyme scheme in order to make the end of the line more unpredictable. He realizes that if a song rhymes completely, the listener will see the rhyming word coming and know what it is before it is spoken, which ruins the sophistication. Therefore, what gives something a the most logical structure are illogical nuances in the creation. It is the work of geniuses, or perhaps the Genius. |
GZA/Genius – I Gotcha Back Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"I was always taught my do's and don'ts For do's I did, and for don'ts, I said I won't" Perhaps the greatest way ever to begin a song. The GZA is truly the Genius. |
Wu-Tang Clan – Can It Be All So Simple Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"So if you're filthy stacked up Betta watch ya back and duck Cause these fiends they got it cracked up" To me, this means that notably wealthy people are subject to violence in the company of fiends. It works very well in the three-level rhyme scheme. |
