Politicaly it refers to restriction of civil rights under the bush administration, and restrictions of reporting and things of the sort that have taken place throughout the years past since 2001... "Ink well has run dry"- People have tried to report truth behind alot of the bush admin's doings however, "Fill it with the blood of the scribe"- Gov't (government)/ Bush Admin's response, through infringements on constitutional and civil rights, and more specific punishment towards reporters or whatever, which also serves as an example to the people in attempt to intimidate us into not undermining gov't The gov't does so guiltlessly. Doom despair and tragedy, In essence, the things that people attempt to undermine when it comes to government are all thing that in one way or another are related to some sort of crisis, etc. The only thing is, these are the types of things that really keep gov't and politics running Cut to the bone, rob the grave, unearth the stone, lay to waste; People trying to undermine the gov't and the Gov't in response will both try to rip each other apart figuratively, and reveal what is supposedly the truth. They'll go back and bring out dirt on each other about things that took place in the past and for the most part have been laid to rest discussion- wise, and theyll both say that they have found the truth about the other and insist its the truth, the only truth and nothing but the truth. Defile the tomb Theyll both one way or the other try to ruin each others reputation and initially thats the point Rip the page Theyll both try to deny things about the other that are suppose to be true, in attempt to again bring down the others reputation Strip-mine the vein Theyll both take each possible iota suggesting imperfection in the other and try to use it in their attempt to bring the other down Lay to waste One or the other will be overturned in time Moving on, the part from chastizement to bitter sweet nightmares, i believe refers, to how either side of this conflict between gov't and individual will try to make you feel guilty for what you believe in in support of the other. Uhm... Idk i found meaning in all of the song really... It talks alittle about Lamb of God's Message as a band in general; their over all message they tend to have through and through. Lamb of god is from virginia, and they tend to have alot of threats, etc. towards politics and so forth They dont care about peoples money or anything, cuz they dont mean anything even fools gold has its shine They arent restrained from spreading their message unlike any other type of "revolutionary" would (seeing as blyth can be considered one) in that they're musicians and spread the message through music not physical violence that is very quickly put down by the government. In times like these, what tLamb preaches is technicaly that of virtue, since their music usually talks about (either satiricaly or not) what shit this nations coming to And theyre only stating truth in saying "and in this commonwealth theres merely a common concern for self", cuz truly thats what the majority of the nation is like. However, the damage is pretty much delt, so even though they spread their message as much as possible, they realize they probably arent going to come around to ever bringing any true change in how the majority of people think in this world and with this is also the realization and slight sense of them wasting their time trying to tell ppl this. i forgot where i was going with this |

I think it has to do something with Bud's time with depression, which can sometimes feel like a sort of fight against yourself, trying to change. "Resurrection" refers to transcending depression. "Your flesh is mine your blood belongs to me" - It might seem like a threat, but i think it refers to how depression is in your head, so in a way youre your own problem when fighting depression. "PAIN' HERE COMES THE BIRTH OF NIGHT PAIN' HERE COMES THE REIGN OF TERROR, I LIVE INSIDE PAIN' I AM THE DREAM DESTROYER PAIN' I AM THE PARASITE" -Also refering to depression, which can do alot to the human mind and feel like a great darkness type thing. Blah. I know it seems really fuckin pathetic but whatever. |
