I think it’s about the hood and how it could change your life; but mostly, it’s about cocaine. There’s no weed grinding, it’s cocaine grinding. “And I’m grindin’ til I’m tired....Dear Lord, you’ve done took so many of my people but I’m just wonderin’ why you haven’t taken my life…” Grinding cocaine, wondering why of all the people he knows who do cocaine, how come he’s not one of the ones who’s “overdosed on cocaine”. “And f**k Jesse Jackson cause it ain't about race, now…” meaning cocaine is not abused by just one race. But aside from the meaning, I think this is a fucking beautiful song. I love the Game and I’m glad my brothers taught me the difference between one-hit wonders (like Soulja Boy) and talented rappers. |
