At the Drive-In – Chanbara Lyrics 17 years ago
well, yeah my take is maybe it has to do with our propensity to "liberate" other countries with "democracy". I'm surprised nobody caught the reference to puppet governments yet. "all we are is failed attempts propelled by stilt-legged presidents." like the sticks under a puppets ass to make them move while the real people are hiding under the stage or behind the scenes manipulating things....

i dont know too much about the history of ayuchuco, peru but i know our government does similar things in colombia with the contrarevolucionarios who are just as bloody as the FARC revolutionaries. we secretly back south american leaders who are pro free trade or who will help us keep "order" within these countries so we can fuck with the rest of the world.

yeahh i agree you can definitely compare ced to kurt cobain. both were (are) groundbreaking musicians and lyrical masterminds. theyre both great in their own rights. i wouldn't necessarily even say one is better than the other.

let's be realistic - if ced decided to take a dirt nap he'd be twice as legendary. that's the sad thing about rock and roll/hiphop - you can become twice as famous by losing your life.

but also, it's two different genres of rock music. kurt did what he had to do for the early 90's by paving the way for grunge bands, as cedric paved the way for, well, whatever the fuck genre you want to pin on ATDI.

Wesley Willis – Suck Cheetah's Dick Lyrics 17 years ago
i'm going to take a stab. wesley's lyrics have always transcended rational thought. he was a pure genius.

personally, i think this song has to do with sucking a cheetah's dick. i could be wrong.

RIP WESLEY I MISS YOUUUUU

At the Drive-In – Pattern Against User Lyrics 17 years ago
I can't say for sure, but every single line in this song seems to scream "heroin addiction". This is the song that got me through my own heroin withdrawl. I could, however, see the whole 'medicating of society' business making sense.

"let these walkers trip on
endless proof"
If you've ever hung out with heroin addicts (the real, hardcore ones) you'll start to notice they tend to carry themselves like old folks. the 'endless proof' is the fact that every user is conscious of what they're doing to themselves.

"hypodermic people poking
fun at the living
please lift the weight out of this
it takes the weight out of living"

'poking fun at the living' is basically saying hey, there are people out there struggling to put food on the table (or their families, bahaha), meanwhile junkies could blow 80 bucks in one night just to get high. 'please lift the weight out of this...' i think is pretty indicative of when you get one of your buddies to help you shoot up. 'lifting the weight out' is when you pull out a little blood from the vein to make sure you banged it in correctly.

finally "and if this clock keeps ticking away
will time be hesitated
of all the minutes that were
taken away..." i don't think i need to explain that junkies are deleting a few minutes (actually, probably a few years) from their lives.

Shit, i'm so glad i'm clean now. I credit this band with saving my life. Nothing made me want to get sober more than cedric telling me i was an asshole haha.

stick to weed, kids.
