(He's being told something he doesn't want to be told...whether that she doesn't want to be with him anymore, or she found somebody else....but it sounds like when he says "i was trying to dampen it all out" like he's trying to find a way around believing it...or trying to talk her out of it) You were talking louder than I should hear, producing nothing but all these mirrors, and I was trying to play it all down. (again she's still saying things he doesn't want to hear, and maybe she's telling him he's to blame for it. And deep down he see's it, but he's still in denial) With eyes of blood, these kisses won't rust. Where the baptized drown, we used to breathe. (i'm not so sure on this one... It makes me question if this relationship wasn't perhaps legit...like maybe he was the 'other man' and she's ending it...and he's saying he'll remember the kisses, and the line "where the baptized drown, we used to breathe" makes me think that perhaps it started off as something innocent.) (perhaps she's trembling while telling him this, and he's feeling like everything is heading in a downward spiral, and kinda pleaing for her to stay...even though he knows he's 2nd best in her eyes...but he's promising he can make things work) That evil, a brutal sickness brings, at times you can't let go, it chases you from everything. To settle for almost anything. It's times like these, when you should only choose just not to speak. (he's upset, and saying she's settling for the other.... and he'd rather her have not told him) And the clouds don't break when the sun is on empty. (to me he's saying basically nothing good can come from something that wasn't good to begin with...he knows nothing can come from something that was never there to begin with...maybe she felt nothing for him...and just used him....kind of like the saying 'you can't miss what you never had') |
