One of my favorite songs by Pac. I read somewhere that one of guys from Outlawz said that Pac got the idea for this song from Nas', "I Gave You Power". The difference is that in Nas' song he writes from the perspective of a gun, while Pac is talking about his gun like it's his "girlfriend." If you haven't heard "I Gave You Power" by Nas, then I suggest you go listen to it now, because that shit is good. |

I believe Burning Star is on the right track. I personally believe this song is about the absurdity of pacifistic strategies of protest(i.e. picketing, marching, petitioning, etc.) against something as violent and destructive as war. The chorus I believe is sung with a bit of a sarcastic tone. The title, "White People for Peace", I believe alludes to how being non-violent is a politically convenient position for a liberal white person because is preserves their position of privilege and comfort in society and equally be ineffective and if they were to be a violent activist for example they would be more effective in ending a war, but have to give up that privilege. |
